ACT 3

The act is mainly set in the court room in Salem. The court was in session when suddenly Giles accuses Putnam for only trying to make a grab for more land. Shortly after Mary Warren testifies that she and the other girls were pretending to be bewitched. Paris declares that they all should overthrow the court. Judge Danforth then asks if Proctor is trying to attempt to undermine the court. Proctor is just wanting to free his wife when Danforth then proceeds to question Proctor about his religious beliefs. The courts state that Elizabeth shall be executed however since she is pregnant she will not be hanged until after she delivers the baby. Ninety one people signed "Wives Not Witches". Danforth calls out Abigail and her group of girls, Abigail denies Mary's testimony. Danforth pressured Abigail to be truthful, she then shivers and her group of girls follow. They accuse Mary of bewitching them with a cold wind. Proctor leaps at Abigail and calls her a whore. He confesses his affair with her and explains that Elizabeth fired her when she discovered it. He explained that Abigail wants Elizabeth to hang so the she can take her place in his home. Danforth calls for Elizabeth to restate what happened however it was to late. Proctor confessed his sins leading to his arrest for tryin the "undermine the court" which is the same as undermining God himself Hale quits the court in Salem.

Act 3 has to do with determining who will define guilt and innocence.
